The big smoke of the of the southern highlands, Fianarantsoa feels a bit like a sleepy Tana. Its attractive old town, jaw dropping vistas and laid-back atmosphere make it a great stop for anyone travelling between the Ranomafana and Isalo national parks. The old city is easy to navigate by foot and, unlike Tana, you don’t have to worry about traffic. Fianarantsoa also boasts some of best dining this side of the country and is the perfect place for an indulgent meal.
